Earth Day is every day for me. What have I done in my work to be an advocate for our environment: Here you go:

- In 2006 even before the fantastic Vanity Fair Cover Story about environmentalism and the film An Inconvenient Truth (Al Gore) came out I requested that ourCoty suppliers look into the biodegradability of their ingredients in our formulations. The reaction was unheard of, and some suppliers questioned why. Fast forward several years, companies were looking into biodegradability.
- I requested that our R&D get rid of the plastics in our scrub formulations. Oops. I was seen as a trouble maker I am sure!
- As a Fragrance Designer at Coty, I requested perfumers to use as many fair-trade raw materials as much as possible in formulas. One for example was the fair-trade Vetiver from Haiti thatFirmenich used in their formula for the Oscar Winning Actress, and one of the most beautiful women in the world--Halle Berry. (Perfume: Halle by Halle Berry and the perfumer was none other than the great Master Perfumer, Jacques Cavallier, before he departed Firmenich for LVMH).
- In my on personal life, I became an obsessive recycler. Yes.... I did...and that is my "true" confession! Looking back at the days I lived in France in the late 80s, townships such as Rocquencourt where I lived outside of Paris were already recycling glass. (Why are we so behind USA?!!) We must do better!
- Integrating my love for the environment, I volunteered at theFlinn Gallery in 2017 to co-curate my first exhibit with the Flinn to pull together a 3-month exhibit based on the concept of "Reclaim Repurpose", a group exhibit with New York area artists Jaynie Crimmins, Constance Old & Alice Hope and 2 others for an exhibit showcasing how these selected artists have used recycled, reclaimed, or repurposed articles such as Coca Cola tabs and shredded junk mail for their 3-demential, multi-media art forms. The exhibit was a HUGE success!
- 2017- 2019: When developing my sensory kits Essential Awakenings® and MindScent®, I printed and manufactured my kits at local plants therefore, reducing my carbon imprint. Wind power was used as much as possible, and all components in my packaging are recyclable-- and on top of that, I employed people from a local non-profit servicing people with learning disabilities to assemble and pack the sensory kits. I stayed local as much as possible to keep the "Made In The USA" stance.
- Now and the future: will continue to go forth in my work and my life being a steward for the environment so that generations after me can live, breathe and thrive in an environment that is hopefully health.
My final word: Keep mindful of nature, smell all those beautiful flowers that are in full bloom right now and worship nature!
